To travel today, you often need a coronavirus test done 72 hours before you travel. And in Portugal’s Alentejo, which has excellent medical infrastructure and clinics, that is easy to do.
The list below is an easy way to set up a test in advance by phone or email, and get your results emailed to you, so you can board the aircraft for the trip home.
A PCR test (polymerase chain reaction) is the most reliable test for detecting COVID-19, and many countries require negative PCR tests taken 72 hours before a flight. Many labs can provide results in 48 hours or less by email, and even less if it is an antigen test, which a few countries require. Rapid antigen tests cost less too. Check with your embassy, airline and online first you get the right test.
And, be sure to ask your hotel or inn to help print the certificate out, in case you cannot access them on your phone for any reason.
