Walking
TransAlentejo
The TransAlentejo Network presents the systematised organisation of a selected set of walking routes throughout the Alentejo, perfectly structured and signposted, chosen from among the several such routes in each municipality’s territory. The choice of one route per municipality showcases the best that this territory has to offer in terms of landscape, natural values and heritage, creating a network of the best regional offerings for walking enthusiasts.
TransAlentejo Alqueva
The TransAlentejo Alqueva trail network is a set of eleven walking trails that are in areas of special protection under the by-laws of nature conservation. These trails were selected from among the several that each municipality has on its territory, each of which has been thoroughly reviewed and undergone an extensive survey of the main points of interest.
Rota Vicentina
The Rota Vicentina is one of Europe’s most spectacular networks of marked trails. It comprises the Fisherman’s Trail which runs 125 km along the finest stretches of the coast south from São Torpes. The virgin beaches attract turtles, egrets and Europe’s only marine stork colony. The other strand of the Rota Vicentina is the Historical Way, based on ancient pilgrim routes and longer at 232 km. It starts in Santiago do Cacém.
